One of the bestsellers among Yamaha wooden furniture at the time, it is now housed in Tokyos Furniture Museum and is a premium item in antique markets. Nippon Gakki Co., Ltd. (now Yamaha Corporation) was founded in Meiji 30 (1897) and merged with a company called Nihon Mokko due to the need for wood in instrument making. They used woodworking techniques, essential for making instruments that withstand humidity and temperature changes, to produce furniture.
